Two Rivers Neighborhood
Two Rivers offers stunning views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Collegiate Peaks. The neighborhoods are within one mile of Historic Downtown Salida. Other features include 6+ acres of open space with access to the Arkansas River, the Little Ark or South Ark River, Confluence Park, a timber-frame gazebo (which we relocated from the Breckenridge ski resort). A pedestrian bridge over the Little Ark River connects the neighborhoods with a greenbelt/trail system along the south side of Little Arkansas River.
S Mountain
Just north of downtown Salida you'll find a variety of hiking and biking trails on Saida's own mountain! Experience both gnarly rocky singletrack, smooth rides, walkable paths and a drivable dirt road called Spiral Drive that actually spirals to the top of Tenderfoot Mountain, which locals refer to as "S" Mountain. At ChristmasTime, watch the mountain be transformed into a giant Christmas tree! Salida Mountain Trails does a fantastic job of supporting and maintaining the trail system with support from the City of Salida, BLM and USFS.
Downtown Historic District
The Salida Downtown Historic District is the largest historic district in Colorado. The area centered on the town’s lone stoplight at 1st and F Street was added to the National Historic Register in 1984. Founded in 1880, Salida still has more than 100 turn-of-the-century historic buildings in this special district. Together they are largely regarded as the best collection of historically significant buildings in Colorado. Downtown also does double-duty as Colorado’s first Creative Arts District, with about 20 art galleries and studios. (credit: https://www.colorfulcolorado.com/salida-national-historic-district/)
Arkansas River Boat Ramp
The Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) is one of the nation's most popular whitewater rafting and kayaking locations. The Arkansas River is the most commercially rafted river in the United States and is noted for its world-class fishery, which provides an excellent opportunity for anglers to test their skills at catching brown and rainbow trout.
Bike Path to Downtown
The Two River development community and friends are working to establish a bridge and bike path that extends along the river into downtown Salida and beyond.
Monarch Mountain
Only about a twenty-minute drive east to the beautiful mountain town of Salida, Monarch Mountain is one of the oldest Colorado ski areas, which opened in 1939. It’s located in the central Rocky Mountains near Salida and receives over 350 inches of snow each year. The Continental Divide actually runs through Monarch Mountain, giving you a chance to ski along the range.
Creative District
Since 2012, the City of Salida’s historic downtown has been a “Certified Creative District,” one of the first designated by Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the State’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade. The Creative District is comprised not only of artists and galleries, but creative entrepreneurs of all types, including locally-owned restaurants, bars, microbreweries, and a distillery; print, graphic, and jewelry designers; boutique hotel accommodations; and healing arts, non-profits and many more.
Commercial District. Hwy 50
Running east and west through Salida, Highway 50 --aka Rainbow Blvd--provides quick access to numerous shops, wine stores, a local brewery, restaurants and motels, convenience stores, exercise studios, mini golf, hunting and fishing gear, and pet supplies.
Hot Springs Aquatics Center
One of the largest indoor hot springs pools in the country, this is also the only publicly operated aquatic facility within 100 miles. Part of the City of Salida’s Parks and Recreation Department, this family-friendly environment features two hot spring pools filled with mineral-rich water. The water is piped directly to the pools from underground springs eight miles away, as it has been for about 80 years. This building, pools and underground hot water transmission line were originally constructed as part of a 1937 Federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) project that employed about 200 men during the Great Depression.
